Warrensburg, MO (December 16, 2013) – The staff of Central Missouri Speedway recently wrapped up additional pre-season planning the general race rules, Street Stock and Pure Stock car class rules, and the addition of special guest car classes scheduled throughout the year. CMS has 21 race nights scheduled next season. The general rules are in the final planning stages as of this writing and CMS is confident drivers and fans will like some of the changes forthcoming for this year’s competition.

Joining the already announced guest appearance car classes next season, which includes the Allstar Midget Series, Midwest Lightning Sprints, Mod Lites, and the Mid-America Lightning Sprints presented by Jayhawk Millwright; local Grand Nationals are scheduled to make five appearances during the later portion of the season. “They put on a good show the last time they were here and we were informed they wanted to return so we’ve added them as a guest class a few times,” stated track owner Earl Walls.

Walls went on to say the track’s marketing and branding tag line will be “CMS, Home of the Mighty Modifieds.” CMS started big-money Modified racing in the Greater Kansas City metro in the 90’s and this theme will continue in 2014 as the big three summer holiday specials will once again feature some of the richest Modified purses in the Midwest.

The first Modified special takes place on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 during Memorial Day Weekend. Two nights of qualifying will occur for Modified drivers throughout the weekend with Sunday’s main event winner going home with $3,000 for the win! ULMA Late Models will be the featured guest class for the weekend and will compete on both Saturday and Sunday.

The annual Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ Bowl returns on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 to mark the second big-money race of the year over Independence Day weekend. Two nights of qualifying for Modified competitors will commence throughout the weekend with the eventual Saturday winner going away with a $5,000 payday! The track’s Street Stock division will race for a $1,500-to-win payout on Friday during their annual special event.

The final ‘Mighty’ Modified special of the year occurs on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 during the Labor Day weekend ‘Modified Mania’ event. Two nights of qualifying for Modifieds will hit the track throughout the two-day affair with the Sunday night winner pocketing $3,000. The track B-Modified division competes for a $1,500 payday during the Sunday race program.

The track is pleased to announce a new class for the 2014 season. The Pure Stock class is designed for beginner and entry-level racers and offers a budget class for those looking to compete without the worries of leaning too heavily on the pocket book. Rules are near finalization and may be requested upon completion. The track recently finalized its Street Stock car class rules. Rules for the division are based upon the rules used for the class in 2011 with a few new additions. To request rules copies send request to samonthemic@hotmail.com.

Other recent events regarding the track include the arrival of several loads of clay for the track surface. After sitting idle for the last two seasons, the track’s surface needs a few new layers. Once the new clay is worked as weather conditions allow, after which a decision will be made whether to add additional loads of clay.

Waterloo Storage Products returns as a presenting sponsor at CMS in 2014. The company will provide one of their innovative toolboxes to each main event winner throughout the season. The company has a long history of quality and innovation in tool storage solutions and CMS is honored to rekindle its relationship with Waterloo Storage Products for the coming season.

The track has job opportunities open to serious and well-qualified individuals. Open positions include janitorial services and after-event trash and bleacher cleanup as well as weekly lawn care. A parts and tire salesmen or business is being sought for weekly attendance; responsibilities for this position also include selling fuel. Push-truck operators are also needed. Lastly, the track is looking for a contract vendor to operate concessions. Serious inquiries for these openings should be directed to Susan Walls at 816.229.1338, no calls after 8 p.m.

The registration fee for the weekly championship classes, which includes Modifieds, B-Modifieds, and Street Stocks, is $40 if paid prior to February 1, 2014. After the deadline, registration for the remainder of the year for these classes is $50. Track registration fees do not apply to guest classes.

CMS will conduct car registration and a “meet the staff” event on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the ABC building in Warrensburg, Missouri on the Grounds of Grover Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The staff will go over the all-new track general rules manual during this meeting. Printed copies of rules for each of the weekly championship car classes as well as general rules will be available for attendees.

After years of hearing from drivers about why it didn’t host its own end-of-season banquet, CMS has plans to honor these requests and is planning its own banquet in November, with the exact date, time, and location to be announced. In the coming weeks, CMS will unveil its all new website, which will be located at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

CMS is located 3.5-miles north of Warrensburg, MO from the junction of Highways 50 and 13 in Warrensburg just north of the new by-pass round-a-bout or from the Higginsville exit off of I-70, south on Highway 13 for twelve and half miles.
