“CORRIDOR MOTORS NIGHT” THIS FRIDAY NIGHT AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY CITY TRACTOR PRESENTS “FATHERS DAY FRIDAY NIGHT” MOWER GIVEAWAY!

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 11, 2014) — This Friday night is Corridor Motors Night at historic Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Corridor Motors welcomes fans and racers to week seven of the HyVee Racing Series with action slated for five divisions of racing.

It’s also “Fathers Day Friday Night” with one lucky dad taking home a Gravely XD3 Push Mower valued at $500 thanks to our friends at City Tractor Company in North Liberty. Fans can also get their picture taken with “The King”-Richard Petty!  Actually, it’s a cardboard cutout but it still looks cool.

The Dodge Street Tire Lil’ Racer Car Club is back in action Friday night with Big Wheel races during Intermission. Kids can sign up for the club and the races at the booth under the main grandstand.

Fans will want to get to Hawkeye Downs early for “Happy Hour at the ‘Downs” featuring 2-for-1 Tallboys until 7pm!

Five of the six divisions of the HyVee Racing Series return to the track Friday night to wage battle on the quarter and half-mile ovals at Hawkeye Downs.                        In Sunline Hornets, some extra incentive is being offered in the way of a $100 “Bounty” if someone can beat Kurt Bohnsack fair and square.  Bohnsack currently has string of six wins in six starts and he has mounted a fairly comfortable margin over Brad Schmidt, who sits in second on the points chart.

Also on the quarter-mile, Matt Petrzelka has assumed the point lead in the Barron Motor Supply Hobby Stocks. Petrzelka holds the edge over Nathan Ballard. Adam Petrzelka sits third in points.

In Dublin City Pub Legends, Kevin Korsmo holds a four point margin over Tim Goettsch. Despite holding the points lead, Korsmo has yet to win a feature. Austin Kunert is very much in the hunt in third. There have been three different winners in the division thus far this season.

The remaining quarter-mile division, the Mountain Dew Sportsmen, has seen Jim Hanson post four wins in five starts. Hanson has parlayed those wins into a thirteen-point lead over Greg Hentrich. Cory Houdek rides the chart in third.

Finally, on the Hawkeye Downs half-mile, Tim Plummer holds a four point lead in the Carpetland USA Late Models. Plummer, who has four wins this season, holds the lead over Brad Osborn. Scott Siems holds down third on the point chart.

Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2014.   The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:30 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:25pm with the first race at 7:30pm.   Hawkeye Downs continues to hold the line on admission prices. Adult admission is STILL just $10, Senior Citizens (62+) are $7, Students over 12 are just $5, College Students are just $5 with a valid ID and Children 12 and Under are absolutely FREE!   The full schedule for the 2014 season is available on the Hawkeye Downs Website (http//:www.hawkeyedownsspeedway.com).   Hawkeye Downs will again be using RainedOut.com in 2014 to notify fans of weather related announcements for the speedway.
