Oskaloosa, Iowa (October 2nd, 2015) – Friday Night fell like Fall as the Southern Iowa Speedway hosted Night one of the 29th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge. 139 cars signed in to take to the monster half mile in six classes.

Travis Dawson (Iowa Sportsman Series), Curtis VanDerWal (SportMods), Mike Hughes (Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks), Ryan Havel (Sport Compacts) and Cayden Carter (Modifieds) all took victories on Night one.

First feature of the night was the 30 lap Iowa Sportsman Series and it was Matt Deaton grabbing the top spot. Deaton look to be confortable out front and it was until a caution came out on lap 23 allowing Travis Dawson and Gene Tish to restart behind him. Deaton pulled in though with mechanical issues giving the lead to Dawson. Dawson held off several challenges from Gene Tish to take the win. Darin Dezwarte, Paul Meiners and Wayne Webert rounded out the top five.

Tim Plummer and Logan Anderson led the field to the green in the 18 lap SportMod feature. Anderson wrestled the lead away and pulled away from Plummer until lap eight when both cars encounter lap traffic. Lap traffic got so heavy that on lap ten it forced Plummer to run out of room on the bottom side of the speedway forcing a yellow flag. Plummer headed to the pits meanwhile Anderson now saw Jason McDaniel and Curtis VanDerWal restart right behind him. VanDerWal took second away from McDaniel and set his sights on getting by Anderson for the lead. It appeared though Anderson was not going to give up the lead but on lap 17 it was VanDerWal took the top spot away from Anderson. Anderson tried to use a lap car as a pick but it VanDerWal holding on to the win. Anderson finished second with McDaniel third, Brayton Carter in fourth and Glenn Gladson Jr in fifth.

Mike Hughes started outside row one but by the end of lap one in the Stock Cars 22 lap feature, Hughes found himself in the lead. Zack Vanderbeek ran second with Blaine Dopler in third. By lap eight, 9th place starter Cayden Carter had worked his way up to the third position. Hughes went on to take the win in the feature that went green-to-checkered. Vanderbeek held on to second ahead of Carter. Elijah Zevenbergen was fourth and John Oliver Jr in fifth.

Before a single lap was completed in the Sport Compacts feature, the caution came out when William Michel experience troubles in up against the front stretch wall. Brandon Lambert grabbed the lead on the restart but the red flag came out for Ryan Walker, John Girdley and Kenneth Stogdell got together in turn three and four. This forced the feature to be shorten from 12 laps to ten laps .  Ryan Havel took the lead away on lap three and went on to take the win ahead of Josh Barnes, Bill Whalen Jr, Lambert and Darin Smith.

Carter VanDenBerg and Andrew Schroeder was the front row in the Modifieds 22 lap feature and it was Carter VanDenBerg leading the opening two laps before a caution was displayed for Nick Nevins in turn two. VanDenBerg saw Richie Gustin take the lead away on the restart and it was Gustin looking to be heading to victory but  Cayden Carter found the race track to his liking on the bottom side and took the lead away on lap 17. Carter saw lap traffic but was not to be denied the victory. Kyle Brown came home second, Gustin fell back to third, VanDenBerg to fourth and Schroeder was fifth.

Final feture of the night was the 16 lap Hobby Stocks feature event and it was Mike Hughes grabbing the lead from his outside front row starting spot. Hughes and the field saw the only race caution come out on lap 12 for Clint Nelson spinning in turn three.
