Deery Brothers event kicks off Davenport Speedway season

DAVENPORT, Ia. (April 9, 2014) – The Davenport Speedway roars to life this Friday with the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models. The Deery Brothers race is the first of two Davenport appearances in 2014. Modifieds, DTR Street Stocks, SportMods, and 4-Stocks will also be competing on the quarter-mile oval.

This Friday will mark the 22nd visit by the Deery Brothers Summer Series at the Davenport Speedway. Jeff Aikey of Cedar Falls, won the most recent event last September and has six Davenport victories.  Ray Guss Jr. (Milan, Ill.) has three Davenport wins. Twelve different drivers have a single Deery Brothers victory at Davenport.

Late Model stock car racing action continues next Friday, April 18th, with the running of the Midwest Sanction Showdown. The open late model cars of the Cornbelt Clash Late Model Series and the MARS DirtCar Series will compete on the historic, half-mile oval. The late models will be joined on the track by the Modifieds and DTR Street Stocks.

Racers will get a chance to try out their new rides for the 2014 season. An open practice will be held, on Thursday, April 10th.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open at 4:30pm, grandstand at 5:00pm, with hotlaps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00pm.
