Deery Showdown highlights All-Star Classic this Saturday

DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 20, 2012) – It’s time for a Saturday night special at the Davenport Speedway. The All-Star Classic will be run this Saturday, September 22nd, with all races being run on the historic half-mile dirt oval.

The event is highlighted by the Deery Brothers Summer Series 2012 finale. Non-sanctioned IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Stocks will also be racing at the All-Star Classic.

The Deery Brothers Summer Series championship has boiled down to a battle between six-time Deery champion Jeff Aikey of Waterloo, and Andy Eckrich of Oxford, Iowa. Aikey leads Eckrich by eight points heading into the final race. Davenport Speedway IMCA Late Model track champion Mike Murphy Jr., is third in points with defending Deery Brothers champion Ray Guss Jr., fourth.

Start times for the All-Star Classic will be one half-hour earlier than normal. The pit gates for the All-Star Classic will open at 4pm. The grandstand opens at 5pm, with hot laps at 6pm, and racing 6:30pm.

Friday, Sept. 28th, the rescheduled Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders come to town. The 360 cubic inch winged sprint car warriors will compete in the “East/West Clash of the Best” on the historic Davenport half-mile oval. Also racing at that event will be IMCA-style late models and 4-Stocks.

The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport, Iowa.
