FIRST WOO WIN FOR SWEET AT BMS

| July 3, 2016

BRANDON, SD (July 2, 2016) – Grass Valley, California, driver Brad Sweet was looking to get out of a slump. He did it on the first of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars two-night swing at Badlands Motor Speedway.

“This team really needed that,” said Sweet in victory lane. Sweet won the dash from the pole, which earned him the right to start on the pole in the 40-lap A-Main. Sweet led early but Rico Abreu got by once the leaders reached slower traffic. However, Abreu caught the inside berm and flipped twice in turn four on lap 13.

The accident gave the lead back to Sweet. Jason Johnson came from sixth to challenge Sweet but he hit the turn one wall after a tire blew out with just four laps to go. Joey Saldana also had several opportunities to rattle Sweet but he had to settle for second. Sweet’s win was his first ever at BMS and his first win with the World of Outlaws since mid-May.

“We came in here and drew the pole for the dash which helped a lot,” Sweet said. “Forty laps around here is a long race.”
