DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 30, 2014) – The action was full throttle Friday night at the Davenport Speedway. Ninety-six racecars were in the pit area and five fresh faces made their first trip to victory lane in 2014.

Andy Nezworski took home the hardware in the Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model feature. Andy led lap one of the 25-lap race before yielding to Todd Malmstrom. Nezworski re-took the lead on lap eight and led the rest of the way to the checkers.

Justin Kay was closing on the leader, but had to settle for second. Malmstrom held on for third, with Brunson Behning and Ray Guss Jr. completing the top five.

Nezworski, Mike Zemo Jr., and Gary Webb were late model heat winners.

Brandon Durbin captured a wild Milan Heating and Air IMCA Modified main. The twenty lap race saw the entire field diving for the bottom lane of the racetrack, resulting in numerous cautions.

Bob Dominacki led the first fifteen laps of the feature. Durbin was one of the first to try a slightly higher line and found the middle to his liking. Durbin led the final five laps en route to the victory.

Dominacki finished second, with Doug Crampton third. Joe Beal finished fourth, ahead of Todd Dykema.

Twenty-seven modifieds were on hand with heat wins going to Terry Rentfro, Mitch Morris, and Jason Bahrs. Dykema and Rob Henry each won a consi.

Andrew Burk dominated the Koehler Electric Street Stock feature. Burk grabbed the lead on lap two and never looked back. Gerald Ward put in another solid run to finish second, with Donnie Louck taking third. Nick Claussen and Mike Anderson rounded out the top five.

Doug Burkhead led flag to flag in the caution-filled Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMod main. Dustin Crear held off Bryce Garnhart to finish second. Jayson Wiggins and David Norton were fourth and fifth respectively.

For the third time this season, the Roto-Rooter 4-Stock feature went caution-free. The class also saw its fourth different winner as Luke Benischek was the first to the checkered flag. Andy Loy made a serious bid for the lead, late in the race, but would settle for second. Andrew Fitzgerald, Brandon Dahl, and Jake Benischek completed the top five.

The Midwest Jalopies join the weekly racing program next Friday, June 6th, at the Davenport Speedway. Race fans will get a chance to re-live the early days of stock car racing as the vintage racing coupes compete on the quarter-mile dirt oval.
