Garland Dominates at QC Speedway

East Moline, IL (July 29, 2012) – It had been over three months since Morrison’s Mike Garland tasted victory at the Quad City Speedway. Sunday night Garland ended his winless streak in dominating fashion winning the, 30 lap, Sexton Ford IMCA Late Model feature.

Garland went virtually untouched from the third place starting position to the lead on his way to the checkered flag. Garland would cross the finish line with nearly a half track lead over second place finisher Rob Toland. Mike Cothron would take third followed by Mike Murphy Jr., who came from 15th, and Mike Zemo Jr.

The Orion Tire Repair IMCA Modified feature ended with a five lap dash with Colona’s Kevin Blum and Rock Island’s Doug Crampton battling it out. Blum would run up against the cushion all the way around the track to take his second victory at QCS in 2012. Greg Durbin would sneak by Crampton for second with John Ahlers taking fourth followed Eric Barnes.

Shon Sanders put on another Mod Lite clinic in their 12 lap feature event. Sanders would grab the early lead from his third place starting spot and never look back collecting yet another victory. Dan Guss would come home a solid second with Bryan Brinker, Anthony Guss, and Andrew Smith rounding out the top 5.

Another stout field of 19 Verplaetse Excavating UMP Modifieds took the wave of the green for their 20 lap feature. Milo Veloz Jr. darted out to the lead from his outside front row starting spot. Veloz would lead every lap winning, in convincing style, capping off a very successful weekend for him. Veloz also won the, $1,000 to win, IMCA Modified at the Lee County Speedway Friday night. Donovan Lodge held off Nathan Balensiefen for second with Ray Bollinger and Matt Werner taking for fourth and fifth.

In the Extreme Auto Glass Street Stocks Chuck Fox would hold off a strong run by Chris Lawrence to take second, which ended up being first place after the race winner was disqualified during the post race inspections. Rick Schriner would take fourth with Dwaine Hasson fifth.

In only his second night at the Quad City Speedway, Kewanee’s Zach Bollinger picked up the feature win in the Aaron’s Affordable Towing 4-Cylinders. Bollinger, who started 8th, needed just three laps to take control of the lead. Bollinger would build a sizable lead before taking the checkered flag. Cameron Poci would finish second with Zach Dahl, Brad Rhoads, and Wade Dahl completing the top five.
