West Burlington, IA (Saturday, July 29, 2017) – Mother nature claimed the win last Saturday night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, but she would redeem herself this week with perfect weather to get back to weekly racing action. On Fleck Sales Night five drivers scored their multiple wins of the season, while one driver picked up their first win of the season at the track.

The 15 lap Casebine Credit Union IMCA SportMod feature was the first to take to the track, with Randy LaMar and Tom Lathrop leading the field to the green flag. LaMar would take advantage of his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Lathrop and John Oliver Jr. The lead for LaMar lasted until lap 6 when Austen Becerra, who started 9th, slipped under him to take over the top spot. Then just after the completion of the lap, the first caution of the race appeared. Scott Williams, who was running 7th, spun off the top of the track in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Becerra jumped back out front, with Lathrop and Brandon Lennox, who started 12th, close behind. One lap later, lap 8, the red flag was waved to halt the action, as LaMar rolled down the backstretch to bring out the red. He would climb from his car okay. Becerra once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Lennox and Kyle Hill, who started 7th, following. Two more laps were completed when the final caution of the race appeared on lap 11. This time Jeffery DeLonjay would spin in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Becerra moved back out front, with Lennox and Hill still following. Lennox would look under Becerra over the final laps, but Becerra would go on to claim his fifth win of the season at the track. Lennox was 2nd, Hill was 3rd, Kevin Goben finished 4th after starting in 14th, with Oliver Jr. coming home in 5th.

Up next was the 12 lap Sunoco Fuel Mod Lites feature, with Brian Tipps and Devon Rouse making up the front row. Rouse used his starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1 over Mike Morrill and Jason Masengarb. But the lead for Rouse only lasted for 1 lap, as Morrill slipped under him coming off turn 2 to take over the top spot on lap 2. The following lap, lap 3, Masengarb slipped past Rouse to move into the runner up spot and then went to work on Morrill for the lead. Masengarb tried to work under Morrill over the next five laps, but Morrill was able to hold him off each lap. Then coming off turn 4 to complete lap 9 Masengarb was able to make the pass of Morrill to take the lead. Morrill then tried to work back under Masengrab over the final laps, but Masengarb was able to hold him off to pick up his sixth win of the season at 34 Raceway. Morrill was 2nd, Rouse was 3rd, Tipps was 4th, with Michael Dominguez rounding out the top 5.

Travis Porter and Brayden Gaylord led the field to green in the 20 lap WT Gabeline & Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature, with Porter grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Gaylord and Nick Guernsey. The lead for Porter only lasted for 1 lap, as Gaylord slipped past on lap 2 to take over the top spot. Gaylord then started to pull away from the battle going on behind him, when the first and only caution of the race slowed his pace down on lap 10. Porter would slow down the front stretch to bring out the yellow. On the restart Guernsey went to the bottom of the track to work under Gaylord for the lead, with Shane Quam, who started 9th, close behind them in 3rd. Gaylord would following in Guernsey’s tire tracks over the final laps, but wasn’t able to mount a challenge for the lead. As Guernsey held on to become the first repeat winner in the 305 Sprints this season at the track in eleven feature events. Gaylord was 2nd, Jarrod Schneiderman started 11th and finished 3rd, Quam was 4th, with Tanner Gebhardt finishing 5th after stating in 8th.

The 15 lap Pepsi IMCA Stock Car feature was up next, with Cody Washburne and Mark Bowman making up the front row. Washburne would take advantage of his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Bowman and Dane Fenton, who started 6th. Fenton slipped by Bowman for second on lap 2 and then went to work on Washburne for the top spot. Disaster would strike Washburne on lap 6, when he spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Fenton inherited the lead on the restart, with Ray Raker and Tom Bowling Jr., who started 8th, close behind. But another lap scored complete produced another yellow, as Bowman spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Fenton moved back out front, with John Oliver Jr., who started 9th, over taking Bowling Jr. for the runner up spot. Another lap scored complete brought out another caution, as Bowling Jr. and Jake Wenig got together in turn 2 while battling for third and spun to bring out the yellow. Once again Fenton grabbed the lead on the restart, with Oliver Jr. and Chad Krogmeier close behind. Just after another lap was scored complete the final caution of the race appeared, as Bowman spun in turn 4 from contact from Wenig to bring out the yellow. On the restart Fenton moved back out front, with Oliver Jr. and Krogmeier following. Oliver Jr. tried to work under Fenton over the final laps, but Fenton was able to hold him off to score his first win of the season at 34 Raceway. Oliver Jr. settled for 2nd, Krogmeier was 3rd, Bowling Jr. recovered from his involvement in the lap 8 caution to come back up to finish 4th, with Washburne recovering from his spin on lap 6 to come back up to finish in 5th.

Wayne Chamblee and Cody Bowman led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 12 lap Sonny’s Market 4-Cylinder feature, with Chamblee grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Larry Miller, who started 7th, and Kimberly Abbott, who started 9th. Chamblee only held the lead for 1 lap, as Miller slipped past him to take over the top spot on lap 2. The action up front was slowed for the first time on lap 4, when Lisa Benningfield spun down the backstretch after Renny McCarty pulled into the infield in front of her to bring out the yellow. On the restart Miller moved back out front, with Abbott and Brandon Lambert, who started 8th, close behind. One lap later, lap 6, Benningfield spun in turn 2 to bring out the second yellow of the race. Once again Miller jumped back out front on the restart, with Lambert over taking Abbott for the runner up spot. Coming off turn 4 to complete lap 8 Lambert was able to work under Miller to take over the top spot. Then just after the lap was scored complete the third and final caution of the race appeared, as Matthew Milligan spun in turn 2 from contact from David Judd to bring out the yellow. Lambert grabbed the lead on the restart, with Miller working to hold off Abbott for second. Without another caution to slow the pace down there was no catching Lambert on this night, as he went on to score his second win in a row and third overall at the track. Miller held on for 2nd, Abbott was 3rd, Eric Eye started 16th and passed 12 cars to finish in 4th, with David Prim coming home in 5th.

The final feature to take to the track was the 15 lap Victory Lane Suspensions IMCA Modifieds, with Chadwick Giberson and Dustin Smith making up the front row. Smith took advantage of his starting spot to jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Dean McGee and Dennis LaVeine, who started 6th. The action up front was brought to a halt on lap 2, as Rich Smith and Dugan Thye went hard into the wall in turn 3 to bring out the red. Both drivers climbed from their cars okay. On the restart Dustin Smith moved back out front, with LaVeine and Cody Bauman, who started 8th, close behind. Just after the lap was scored complete the second caution of the race came out, as James Raleigh spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. Smith once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with LaVeine and Bauman following. LaVeine would follow in Smith’s tire tracks over the next two laps, when the final caution of the race came out on lap 6. This time debris in turn 2 brought out the yellow. Once again Smith jumped back out front on the restart, with LaVeine and Bowman close behind. LaVeine tried to work under Smith over the next four laps, but Smith was able to hold him off each lap. That was until lap 12, as Smith got high in turn four and allowed LaVeine to slip by for the top spot. LaVeine then pulled away to score his second win of the season at 34 Raceway. Smith was 2nd, Mitch Morris, who started 7th, edged out Bauman at the line to finish in 3rd, with McGee completing the top 5.
