Hughes hoists IMCA Modified checkers at Algona

ALGONA, Iowa (April 28) –Rob Hughes was never threatened and picked up the win in a caution-free IMCA Modified feature Saturday at Algona Raceway.

Ryan Watnem was the runner-up with Jeff Feaster third and Mike Hansen fourth.

Mike Carlson survived early restarts restarts in topping the 28-car Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. Point leader Matt Hoeft took second, holding off Tad Reutzel and Doug Cook.

Drew Barglof led the whole way in the 25-car IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock event. Cody Nielsen ended up in the runner-up spot with Devin Smith taking third and Chad Gentz fourth.

Chad Palmer took the early IMCA Sunoco Stock Car lead but Kevin Opheim reeled him in and finally passed for the front on lap number nine.

Opheim led out, taking the checkers ahead of Palmer, David Wickman and Jake Masters.
