Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown on Saturday!

WHEATLAND, MO (May 1, 2012) – Saturday, May 5th, Lucas Oil Speedway will welcome the ASCS Speedway Motors Warrior Region Winged Sprint Cars and the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series for the first Open Wheel event of 2012. Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps from Sedalia, MO sponsors Saturday’s event, which will also feature the DJ’s RV B-Modifieds, up for $500 to Win by MAVTV.

Sunset Hills, Missouri’s Brad Loyet turned a rookie sprint car effort into an inaugural ASCS Warrior Championship in 2011. Loyet also won the POWRi Midget title, making him a clear favorite heading into the Open Wheel Showdown. Sedalia, Missouri’s Jonathan Cornell bested Australian Chad Ely in the 2012 Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region season opener on April 13th at Grain Valley, Missouri’s Valley Speedway. Cornell takes an identical advantage into the second event of a twenty-four race 2012 season. Grain Valley, Missouri’s Brian Brown was victorious in the only standalone ASCS Warrior Region show of the inaugural season on June 18th, 2011.

Currently, Brad Kuhn is out front on the leader board in the POWRi Lucas Oil Midget Series. Zack Daum from Pocahontas, IL is second in the championship point standings. Tyler Thomas, Collinsville, OK is just 16 years old, but already has one win in 2012, he is third in the overall points. Many of the top Open Wheel Midget Drivers in the country expected to be on hand for the only appearance of 2012 by the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series. The DJ’s RV B-Modifieds have opened the 2012 season with two excellent features at Lucas Oil Speedway. Look for a stout field of B-Modifieds gunning for $500 to Win presented by MAVTV.

Saturday night will also include a special fundraiser for Rusty Dukes and family. Dukes received severe burns over much of his body in fire just two weeks ago. He remains hospitalized and has a long road of recovery ahead. Dukes was a noted up and coming Midget driver with several wins in the class, he also participated in the 2012 Chili Bowl Nationals. Purchase a ticket on Saturday for your chance to win an ASCS Summer Sizzlin’ Speedweeks Finale Ticket and Prize Package for $5. All proceeds will benefit the Dukes Family. Drivers will also show support for Rusty by collecting donations during intermission.

Gates will open at 5 PM, Hot Laps will kick off at 7 PM with racing at 7:30 PM. Adult tickets are $20, Seniors age 62 and up are $15, Youth age 6-15 just $5 and kids age 5 & under are always FREE! The first 300 kids in attendance will receive a FREE Ticket to Big Surf! A Family Pass includes two adult admissions and up to three youth, with discounts on Famous Funnel Cakes, Go-Karts and in Track Treasures Gift Shop for only $40. Special games and attractions will keep fans entertained all night long. A Driver Autograph Session will take place from 6 – 6:30 PM on the Midway. May 5th the Diamond Bar at Lucas Oil Speedway will also feature several Cinco de Mayo Specials.
