TIPTON, Ia. (April 21, 2018) – Justin Kay continued his winning streak at the Tipton Speedway, in the Deery Brothers Summer Series 2018 opener. However, Kay needed nearly all the fifty laps of the A-main to get the job done.

Ryan Dolan jumped out to the early lead from the pole. As Dolan pulled away, Kay and Andy Eckrich were locked in a fierce battle second. The pair would swap the position several times. Terry Neal used the very bottom groove to work his way into second. Unfortunately his race would end several laps later, when he coasted into the infield.

Kay finally managed to shake Eckrich with ten laps to go and started to chase down the leader. Kay drove around Dolan with five laps to go, but the yellow flag waved again a couple laps later.

On the restart, Kay pulled away with Matt Ryan riding a late race surge to finish second. Dolan finished third, followed by Todd Cooney and Andy Eckrich.

Late Model heat wins went to Kay, Dolan, Joe Zrostlik, and Denny Eckrich. Chad Holladay and Jeremiah Hurst won the semi-features.

Brad Dierks dominated the IMCA Modified feature, leading all twenty laps. Dierks was already into lapped traffic by lap eight. Justin Kay started deep in the field and had worked his way into second when the final caution of the race came with three laps remaining.

On the restart, Dierks went to the high side and drove straight to victory lane. Kay held on for second, with Jeff Aikey driving from fifth to third in the final laps. Mark Schulte and Stephan Kammerer completed the first five.

Jeff Struck Jr. captured the Street Stock main, leading flag to flag. Tony Vondresky finished a close second with Chuck Fox taking third. Jeremy Gustaf was fourth, followed by Greg Gill.

Austin Heacock also went flag to flag in IMCA SportMod action. Tyler Soppe and Tony Olson both came from mid-pack to run second and third respectively, but Soppe made contact with another car on the final lap, taking him out of the money. Olson finished second, followed by Ben Chapman, Gage Neal, and Kyle Olson.

Dan Kessler held off Bart Miller to win the A.I.R.S. feature. RJ Lank, Tim Arp, and Dennis Etten rounded out the top five.
