EAST MOLINE, IL – September 1, 2013 – On a night to honor former Street Stock driver Ron Marks Jr. 36 Weber Auto Group Street Stocks checked in and Colona’s Rob Nylin picked a good night to put on a dominating performance.

Nylin drew the outside front row position for the 30 lap main event and held off all challengers to collect the $1,701.01 payday. Nylin battled pole sitter Joe Bonney at the on set of the feature but Bonney couldn’t make the pass for the lead. Bernard, Iowa’s, Timmy Current made his way to front from the sixth starting to try his hand at Nylin to no avail. Hard charger of the night Cary Brown, who ended up passing 14 cars, used a late yellow flag to run side by side with Nylin but Nylin would not be denied. Nylin would take the checkered flag to a standing ovation with Brown second, Chris Lawrence third, Bonney fourth, and Rob Henry fifth. Heat race winners were Lawrence, Bonney, Jason Bahrs, and Gary Weatherington Jr. B-Main winners were Perry Gellerstedt and Rick Schriner.

In the IMRA Midget Lites, Andy Baugh continued his winning ways using the first seven laps of the 15 lap feature to make his way to front. Baugh would hold off Billy Brickley and Austin Archdale coming out of turn four on the checkered flag lap to take the win. Brickley would finish second followed by Archdale, Andy Bradley, and Damon Fortune. Heat winners were Archdale and Mitchell Davis.

Bettendorf’s Terry Rentfro has had some good runs in the U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds in 2013 at the Quad City Speedway but he could not finish off a feature to take home a victory. That changed Sunday night though. Rentfro ran side by side with 2013 Track Champion, Greg Durbin, for the final 10 laps. Durbin, who came all the way from the 11th starting spot, challenged Rentfro but Sunday night was Rentfro’s night. Durbin took second followed by Eric Barnes, Brian Bushong, and Matt Werner. Heat winners were Werner and Jason Bahrs.

The streak ended in the McDonald’s Mod Lites Sunday. Milan’s Dan Guss put in end to Shon Sanders winning streak using the first nine laps to navigate through traffic and collect his first win of 2013. Sanders would take second followed by Travis Denning, Gary Snyder, and Jimmy Halcomb. Heat winners were David Norton and Sanders.

Another night, another victory for Davenport’s Aaron Hitt. Hitt held off Jon Scott early on and then cruised to the win. Eric Stogdell would get by Jon Scott for second with John Scott III taking forth followed by Mike Wisdom. Heat winners were Hitt and E. Stogdell.

There will be no racing next Sunday, September 8th, with racing returning Sunday, September 15th, for the 2013 Finale. The main event on September 15th will be the McDonald’s Mod Lites paying $1,000 to the winner of the STARS event. Also racing will be the U-Pull-A-Part/Cimco IMCA Modifieds, IMRA Midget Lites, and a 4-Cylinder Enduro race. Check the QCS website, www.qcspeedwayracing.com, in the coming days for details.
