WINSTON, MO (May 11, 2013) – Setting the stage for a great night of racing was the Grand National Class going caution free from green to checker.  Bud Wilson #75 continued his winning ways picking up his third victory of the 2013 season.  Austin Johnson #98 drove a great race to finish a solid second.  Some of the best racing action on the track was between Houston Johnson #97 and Marty Powell #9p finishing third and fourth respectively. Mechanical problems plagued Don Marrs #9 leaving him to a fifth place finish.

As the car count continues to grow the Midwest Lightning Sprints took on the 3/8 mile ten strong this week.  Mark K. Billings #51 drove his way from a second row outside starting spot to claim the night’s victory.  Previous winner Tom Brown #b20 battled his way through the pack to finish second and Tony Layne #71 placing third. Mark Billings #60e came home fourth and Rick Murcko #48m fifth.

With exciting racing from start to finish the IMCA Stock car class put on a display that did not disappoint fans.  Battling side by side, lap after lap, gave witness to Brad Whitney #x9 edge Todd Fisher #44 and Thomas Roberts #65x as they would all place first second and third, giving Whitney his third win of the season.  Starting shotgun on the field Shawn Lee #4d raced his way to fourth and point leader Greg Keuhn #6x recovering from an early race mishap to finish fifth.

Holding true to form the IMCA Sport Mods raced two and three abreast in a twenty car field from front to rear.  Familiar faces were found door handle to door handle with some of the best action of the evening.  Nick “The Kid” Roberts #23jr had the high side working as he battled Doug Keller, Randy Ainsworth, Jeremy Pittsenbarger, and Jeff Stotts to claim his third victory of the 2013 season.  Randy Ainsworth #57 placed second to hold on to a slim points lead over third place finisher Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p.  Ronnie Miller #76 finished fourth and Jeff Stotts #12 placed fifth.

The nights theme of three peat winners continued in the IMCA Hobby Stock class when rookie contender and points leader Kenny Champ #3 held off a hard charging Mich Ross #34 to win with Ross second.  Jeremy Turner #55L is impressive once again with yet another third place finish.  Cody Doolittle #5 drove away fourth and Trinedy Barker #22b finishing fifth.

The IMCA Modifieds saw Hunter Marriott #62 starting from the pole jump out to an early lead as racing action was hot and heavy behind him.  As the laps were counting down a late race slip put Marriott to the rear giving the lead to Steven Glenn #26s.  Glenn never looked back as he picked up victory number one of the 2013 racing season.  Action filled racing continued as Buz Kaster #54 finished second and Marriott recovered to place third.  Jim Hopkins #71 drove a solid race to fourth position with Johnny McGinnis #10 rounding out the top five.

A Very Special Thanks to Conger Racing and Boller Racing who graciously donated two bicycles that were given away during Intermission.  The lucky winners were Jacob Maize of Gallatin Mo. and Kara Wilson of Hamilton Mo. Congratulations and enjoy your new bicycles!

Trophies were awarded to the best looking car in each weekly class at I-35 Speedway.  Winners were; Grand National: Houston Johnson #97, Stock Cars: Jake Cameron #86c, Sport Mods: Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p, Hobby Stock: Kenny Champ #3, Modified: Randy Smith #26.  Compliments to these wining drivers and their stunning race cars they bring to the track each week.

Thank You Fans for braving Mother Nature’s chilling temper and supporting I-35 Speedway.  We hope to see everyone again next week for “Dirt Trackin at its Best”
