DAVENPORT, Ia. (August 2, 2012) – With a two week break due to the Mississippi Valley Fair, local racers have plenty of time to ready themselves for a championship run.

When stock car racing action returns to the Davenport Speedway, on August 10th, there will be only three races left in the regular season to determine the track champions.

The August 10th racing program will be highlighted by the 4-Stock 50. The main event for the 4-Stocks, will pay $2,000 to the winner. IMCA Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, and Street Stocks will be competing for weekly racing points.

The final Kid’s Night of the 2012 season will be on August 17th. Kids 12 and under receive free admission with a paid adult. Bike races for the kids will be held on the racetrack. Helmets are required for all participants.

August 24th will bring the 2012 Season Championships to the Davenport Speedway. Track Champions will be crowned in all four weekly classes.

Post-season racing action at the Davenport Speedway begins on Sept. 7th, when the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders come to town. The following Friday, Sept. 14th, is the Night of Destruction, featuring Davenport’s first-ever ‘Trailer Race’. The final race at the Davenport Speedway in 2012 will be the All-Star Classic, highlighted by the Deery Brothers Summer Series finale.
