WINSTON, MO (June 21, 2014) –  With their third consecutive week at I-35 Speedway the E-Mod class would witness JR Burge #88b emerge victorious.  Starting on the pole position Burge would recover from an early race mishap to claim the checkers.  Outside pole sitter Kit Bailey #77 would take the early lead and set the pace until Burge would claim the lead with one lap to go, as Bailey would fade to fifth on the last lap.  Week One winner John Brown #36j would race his way through the pack to place second, with heat race winner Justin Asher #74 in third.  Hard charger LeRoy Cameron #6a would place fourth, as the E-Mod’s continue to grow in numbers each week.

Grand Nationals were next to try to tame the three eights mile of dirt as heat race winner Houston Johnson #97 would pick up the win and the hard charger bonus.  On a near perfect racing surface Mike Taylor #11t would use a front row starting spot to take the early lead until Austin Johnson #98 would challenge Taylor and contact between the two would send Johnson to the pits and Taylor would slip to finish third.  Buz Kaster #54 would battle Taylor and Donnie Brown #26 throughout the entire race, with Kaster second and Brown ending up fourth.  Marty Powell #9p continues his string of top five finishes with another fifth place showing.

With a special tribute to a fallen friend the USRA B-Mods would tackle the track next.  The familiar face of Chad Clancy #21c would battle side by side with Clint Baker #17x for several laps until lap traffic would separate the two and Clancy would pull off the win.  Clint Baker would never give up the chase and would race his way to an impressive second place finish.  Doug Keller #7k continues to notch top five finishes with a solid third place run.  Ronnie Miller #76 for two weeks in a row would make his mark with a fourth place finish.  Recovering from heat race issues, Ben Stockton #33s would race his way to round out the night’s top five.  Hard Charger of the B-Mod feature, after transferring from the B-Feature, was Tony Manley #3x racing his way up to sixth from the back of the pack.  Heat race winners included Chad Clancy #21c, Doug Keller #7k, Monty Cook #7m, Jim Cameron #96c, and Truman Asher #73.  B-Feature winner transferring to the A-Main was Danan Knott #18k.

With first and third in USRA National Stock Car Points in attendance racing between the two would impress all spectators.  Brett Heeter #05, USRA National Point Leader, would challenge Thomas Roberts #65x, third place in USRA National Points, every lap from start to finish as Roberts’ black Monte Carlo would once again find victory lane for the seventy-fourth time of his great career.  Heeter would try high and low to get by Roberts while holding off the hard charge of Dean Wray #77.  Brett Heeter would finish second as Wray would finish third.  New father Jeff Dixon #88 would recover from an early race miscue in turn four to place fourth.  Newcomer to the track Trent Jeanes #77t would make his presence felt as he would claim the feature’s fifth spot.  Hard Charger was awarded to John Crews #12c.  Heat race winners included Thomas Roberts, Brett Heeter and Jake Cameron #86c.

With the big money on the line USRA Modifieds, after a great tribute on Racing for Rian night, would take to the track and witness a new face in victory lane.  Kerry Davis #68 would use a front row starting spot and jump to the early lead using a low line to his advantage leading every circuit of the twenty-five lap feature to claim the checkers and the $1000 payday.  Davis would celebrate in victory lane adding another victory taking his overall total career wins to 226.  Issac Dotson #67d would search high and low challenging Davis lap after lap with good clean side by side action as Dotson would place second.  Mark Schafman #34 would impress the crowd racing his way to a third place finish.  One and two in the I-35 point battle would go side by side to the checkers with Dennis Elliott #29 fourth and Zach Sanders #69 fifth.  Hard charger award would go to Steven Glenn #26s.  Heat race winners were Dennis Elliott, Darren Shaw #11, and Issac Dotson.

Racing for Rain is a special night for a great cause as I-35 Speedway is proud to be a part of this annual event.  Bicycles were given away during Intermission activities, gift bags were handed out to kids in attendance, hula-hoop fun was had with trophies given to all participants, all helping to make this a great event.  Heartwarming tributes were given in both B-Mod and Modified features adding to the night’s great racing action.  We would like to sincerely thank fans and drivers alike that make I-35 Speedway a premier race track.  We welcome everyone back next week for more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”.
