Rodney Sanders Surges to Seventh Win of 2014

| April 16, 2014

Happy, Texas (April 16, 2014) – Rodney continued his dominate streak in 2014 with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) as he made a late-race surge in his #20 Swan Energy/MB Customs/Geddes Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to score the $2,000 victory on Friday night at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas).

A talented field of 32 Open Wheel Modifieds converged on the 3/8 mile, semi-banked oval.  Rodney started his night off with an eighth to fourth run in the heat race, locking him into the eleventh starting spot for the $2,000-to-win finale.  Sanders charged from his sixth row starting spot to second with 26 laps complete of the 30 lap event complete.  Early leader, Stormy Scott, had built a comfortable lead over the field before the caution waved on lap 26, stacking the field up for a shootout to the end.  On the restart, Rodney motored by Scott on the outside and held on through one more caution period to score the victory over Scott, Zack VanderBeek, Dereck Ramirez, and Jake Gallardo.

Saturday found Sanders competing at the Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) in another $2,000-to-win event that drew a field of thirty-five entries to the oval.  After finishing second in his heat race, Rodney locked into the tenth starting spot for the 30 lap finale. During the course of the feature Sanders advanced to a solid eighth place finish in the final rundown.
