Stock Car Races Highlight Thursday Nights Events at the Knox County Fair in Knoxville, Illinois

Knoxville, IL (Monday, July 14, 2014) – The oldest running county fair in the state of Illinois, the Knox County Fair in Knoxville, IL, will play host to there annual stock car races during the fair on Thursday, July 17th. In action on the night will be the Modifieds, Steel Block / Pro Crate Late Models, Mod Lites, Street Stock / Stocks Cars, and the 4 Cylinders.

Modifieds will be racing for a top prize of $1,000 to win and $100 to start the A Main. While the Steel Block / Pro Crate Late Models are gunning for a top prize of $750 to win and $100 to start there A Main. The Mod Lites are going for a top prize of $500 to win and $50 to start the A Main. Then the Street Stocks / Stock Cars are racing for a top prize of $300 to win and $50 to start there A Main, with the 4 Cylinders battling it out for $300 to win and $30 to start there A Main.

There are no license to buy, or registration or entry fees. Plus it will be a draw / redraw event. In addition to the plagues to all the feature winners, Central Illinois Promotions out of Peoria and Canton, IL will be making large take home checks for each winner in every class. Also, Griffin Performance from Quincy, Illinois, will have a parts trailer on hand at the 2014 Knox County Fair Race! They will have racing fuel, tires G60’s, A’s and H’s, along with other miscellaneous parts.

Pit Gates will open at 4:00 pm, with the grandstands opening at 5:00 pm, hot laps are set for 6:30 pm and racing at 7:00 pm. We would encourage the fans to come out early, as Galesburg, IL native Dean McGee will have his H7 machine on display in the midway from 5:15 pm until 6:00 pm. There will also be a drivers autograph sessions around his car from 5:30 pm until 6:00 pm.

Grandstand admission will be adults $12, students 6-16 $8, and kids 5 & under Free. Plus there will be a $3 Gate fee for anybody over 42″ tall. Pit passes will be $30.

 

Rules will be as follows:

Raceceivers are Mandatory in all classes. We will be using the default channel of 454.000.

 

MODIFIEDS – Can run a 602 or 604 Crate engine with a 2 inch spoiler, IMCA type steel head with no spoiler. Any other open Modified legal to compete at any area track with non IMCA type steel heads or aluminum heads with no spoiler. But they must add 25 lbs in front of the motor plate. Additional weight will be checked. If weight falls off during the event the car will be disqualified. Weight must be painted a bright visible color. Minimum weight for all combinations is 2450 lbs. with driber and no burn off. No aluminum blocks allowed. Tires are any American Racer or Hoosier G60. All other normal safety rules apply per IMCA / UMP and local track standards.

STEEL BLOCKS / PRO LATE MODELS – Steel Block Late Models will Peoria Speedway type rules. While the Pro Crate Late Models will follow the DirtCar type rules. Tires can be ran on either type of car are any Hoosier LM 40 or D 55. All other normal safety rules apply per UMP and local track standards.

MOD LITES – Will follow the S.T.A.R.S. rules.

STREET STOCKS / STOCK CARS – Must run a Holley 350 or 500 carb. No Aluminum block or head. No roller motors. Minimum weight is 2950 lbs. Tires are any American Racer or Hoosier G60 or Hoosier A or H. All other normal safety rules apply per local track standards.

4 CYLINDERS – Safety equipment must meet IMCA / UMP and local track standards. This includes but is not limited to the roll cage, seat, five point harness, fire suit, and helmets. Any D.O.T. legal tire is allowed.
