DAVENPORT, Ia. (May 5, 2015) – The Davenport Speedway will roar into action this Friday, May 8th, when the Lucas Oil MLRA super late models return to the quarter-mile oval.

The Lucas Oil MLRA series is based in Wheatland, Missouri. The Midwest Late model Racing Association series will compete in seven states in 2015: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. The defending series champion is Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa.

This event will be run in memory of Martin Diercks. Martin Diercks raced at area tracks in the 50’s & 60’s. He had four sons and six grandchildren who have also raced in the area. His grandson, Spencer Diercks currently competes in the Lucas Oil MLRA series.

When the super late models visited Davenport last year, a talented field of forty-five late models were on hand. Chris Simpson won an exciting main event, beating out Terry Phillips and Brian Birkhofer.

Also racing at the event will be four of the Davenport Speedway’s weekly classes. The Milan Heating & Air IMCA Modifieds, Koehler Electric Street Stocks, Hawkeye Auto IMCA SportMods, and Roto-Rooter 4-Stocks will all see action.
