Bloomfield, Iowa (September 24th, 2016) – Saturday Night was the end of limited 2016 racing schedule at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway, that it shared with the Eldon Raceway, as 62 cars signed in to tame the 3/8 mile dirt oval on the Davis County Fairgrounds.

First feature of the night was the Sport Compacts/4 Cylinders 12 lap feature event and it was Brandon Reu and Kyle Boyd leading the field to the green. Reu led the opening lap but shortly after the first lap was scored the caution came out for Nathan Moody in turn one. Reu had Boyd and Barry Taft, who picked up the feature Friday Night in Eldon on his back bumper. Taft got the best restart out of all them as he took the top spot away from Reu. Taft held on to sweep the weekend by taking the win ahead of Reu. Chuck Fullenkamp finished third, Boyd was fourth and Kimberly Abbott was fifth.

Next Up was the Hobby Stocks 14 lap feature event and it was Birthday Boy Danny Thrasher taking advantage of the pole as he grabbed the top sport early but fellow Agency driver Nick Ulin was in tow. Ulin edged out Thrasher on lap four and continued to hold off Thrasher until lap eight when Trasher took the lead back. Thrasher held off Ulin to take the win. Aaron Martin was third, Blake Hultz came across in fourth but was disqualifed in post race tech inspection for illegal carburetor that moved Cody Wirt from Otho to fourth and Jon Irwin to fifth.

Dakota Simmons and Jim Walker led the field to the green in the 16 lap SportMods feature event and it was Mystic’s Jim Walker grabbing the top spot early and Walker pulled away and was out for a saturday night cruise until the caution came out on lap seven for David Snyder in turn four. Walker had Simmons and Jason McDaniel to contend with on the restart and it Walker saw McDaniel grab the top spot away. McDaniel held off Walker to take the win. Simmons, Brandon Dale and Austen Beccerra rounded out the top five.

Final feature of the night was the 18 lap Stock Cars feature event and it was a pair of four cars that led the field to the green, Jake Wenig and Corey Strothman. Wenig grabbed the top spot right away but Strothman tried to get by and just before the third circuit was scored the caution came out when Strothman spun in turn four collecting Riley Newton and Jason Cook in turn four. Strothman and Newton was tow back pit side meanwhile Cook was able to continue when the race went back to the green. Wenig continued to lead until Mike Hughes, winner Friday Night at Eldon, worked his way up from his sixth place starting spot. Hughes held on to sweep the weekend but admitted in victory lane that his power stearing was going out the last five laps and the radiator hose popped off in victory lane shortly after too. Wenig finished second ahead of Jason See, Todd Reitzler and Derrick Agee, driving brother Cody’s car.
