The ‘King’ Returns to Knoxville Raceway for a Wild Weekend

KNOXVILLE, Iowa – June 11, 2014 – Sprint Car legend and 12 time Knoxville Nationals Champion Steve Kinser will return to the famous dirt track this Saturday on his farewell tour with the World of Outlaws. The action-packed weekend starts this Friday, June 13 when Knoxville Raceway will host Vintage Flat Track Motorcycles on Friday, World of Outlaw Sprint Cars on Saturday and the AMA Grand National Flat Track Motorcycles on Sunday.

“We have a special place in our hearts for Steve Kinser from his years of making history at Knoxville Raceway,” said Knoxville Raceway Promoter Brian Stickel. “The stories the fans could tell you about him are endless. Like watching him over the years when no one could beat him at the Nationals so the fans pitched in for a plane to fly over with a banner that read ‘Anybody but Kinser’. He is a living legend and we hope everyone will come out to show their appreciation for his contributions to making sprint car racing what it is today,” Stickel said.

The last time the AMA Motorcycles competed in Knoxville was 2012. Every year fans have experienced some of the most exciting and close racing in the entire AMA Series. The World of Outlaws will feature Steve Kinser in his final tour dueling it out with the Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series drivers for their share of the $50,000 purse.

During the 2013 season, Knoxville Raceway had more than 211,000 visitors to the famous half-mile dirt track. The Knoxville Nationals combine racing with a cultural festival featuring parades, live music, camping, and expositions.This August 6th – 9th more than 100 drivers compete for a nearly million-dollar purse and the esteemed title of 2014 Knoxville Nationals Champion.
