WINSTON, MO (August 24, 2013) – Racing excitement started as the Grand Nationals took to the 3/8 mile of dirt. Young sensation “Awesome” Austin Johnson #98 set the pace early to pick up the heat race win in route to claiming the nights top spot in the feature as well. Johnson would jump out to an early lead and was never truly challenged as they raced green to white to checkers. Bud Wilson #75 would charge late to pass Don Marrs #9 to place second as Marrs would slip to third. Houston Johnson #97 would struggle early but find the fast line late to place fourth.

Midwest Lightning Sprints point leader Tom Brown #b20, after losing an engine one week prior, was back in true form finding victory lane. Brown would battle Mike Trent #49t and Beau Heavelow #4 nearly every lap as Heavelow would finish second and Trent third. Luke McGee #13 would hold off the hard charge of veteran driver Bobby Layne #01 to place fourth, with Layne fifth. Heat race winners were feature victor Tom Brown and Mike Trent.

As usual the IMCA Stock Cars would put on a feature of epic proportions. Bruce Fair #44f would hold the lead until the last turn of the last lap as point leader Dean Wray #77 would edge Fair by a fender at the line to finish first, making Fair settle for second. Heat race winner “Big” Jeff Dixon #88 would battle Wray and Fair every inch of the way to come home in a solid third. Greg Keuhn #6x would contend for the lead early on to fade in the later laps to place fourth, as Jake Cameron #86c would round out the top five. The other heat race winner was Richard Moulton #18.

The IMCA Sport Mods would race clean and green with only one caution during the feature event. Mitch Booher #22b would jump from an outside front row starting spot to gain the early advantage leading almost every lap. Booher would slip high in turn four while taking the white flag which opened the door for point leader Randy Ainsworth #57 to capitalize and pick up the feature win. Booher would place an impressive second as Jeff Stotts #12 would make his presence felt with a solid third place run. Tony Manley #3x would hold off Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32p to finish fourth, with Pittsenbarger fifth. Heat race winners were Josh Steele #94j and Mitch Booher #22b.

For the second week in a row in the IMCA Hobby Stock class Mich Ross #34 would find his way to McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane. After winning the heat race, Ross would hold off the challenge of Lee Farmer #17f and Kenny Champ #3, as a blanket could cover the top three at any given time during the feature. While coming to the checkers off turn four, both Farmer and Champ would spin. No contact between the two was made as Champ would maneuver his way to finish second and Farmer recovering to place third. Billie Hoover #21h would place fourth and David Truskett #83 would round out the nights top five.

Veteran drivers would rise to the top three spots in the IMCA Modifieds feature event. “Mr. Excitement” Jim Cameron would make it two feature wins in as many weeks, as he drove the Steve Starmer prepared #96c to victory circle. “Old Guys Rule” Buz Kaster #54 would make his way through the pack to place second, while fellow veteran driver Johnny McGinnis #10 would finish with an impressive third. Point leader Steven Glenn #26s would work the high line to finish fourth, with John Hanson #2h finishing fifth. Heat race winners included John Hanson #2h and Jim Cameron #96c.
