INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 3, 2013) – Race fans can enjoy two nights of racing this week at Independence Motor Speedway. Thursday night, June 6, an event billed as the Entry Level Extravaganza will get things started, followed by weekly points racing Saturday, June 8, during Ferguson Enterprises Scout Night at the Races.

The Thursday, June 6, special will feature an extra night of racing and higher purse money for IMCA sanctioned SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts. SportMods will be competing for a $500 winner’s share, the Hobby Stocks $300-to-win and Sport Compacts $200-to-win.

All three divisions will be competing for IMCA State, Regional and National points in a draw/redraw format, however track points will not be awarded. Since it is a sanctioned event, all drivers will be required to have an IMCA license to compete. There is no entry fee June 6.

Gates open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, with hot laps at 6:45 and racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. Kids 11 and under will be admitted free if accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $25.

Action resumes on Saturday, June 8, for the fifth night of weekly points racing during Ferguson Enterprises Scout Night at the Races. All Boy, Girl and Cub Scouts who attend the races in uniform will be admitted free of charge. They will also receive a free hot dog and juice box.

A candy dash for the kids, provided by Superior Cleaning Services and Independence Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, will be held on the front stretch during intermission. Following the candy dash, a group photo of all Scouts in uniform will be taken on the front stretch.

Prior to the first green flag Saturday, the Scouts will have a chance to get an up-close look at the race cars as a handful of drivers will have their cars on display behind the concession stand. That display will begin shortly after gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 6, with racing to follow.

Admission to Saturday’s show is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $7 for students ages 12-17. Pit passes are $25.
