Winner’s share upped to $1,250 for May 8 JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener

VINTON, Iowa (May 3) – The winner of next Tuesday’s JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour opener at Benton County Speedway will have 250 more reasons to celebrate. 

The first place share for the May 8 IMCA Modified main event at Vinton has been increased by $250, to $1,250.

Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $400 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $300 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $100.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded in all four divisions; Modifieds also vie for Belleville Motorsports North Central Region and special series points, Hobby Stocks for Stephenville Starter Northern Region points.

The Modified main event pays a minimum of $150 to start and is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.

Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and hot laps are at 6:45 p.m., with racing to follow. Grandstand admis­sion is $15 for adults, $4 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25.

Opening night entries are expected to include all 12 Modified drivers to be profiled in the documentary-based Fuel The Thunder series.

Each Fuel The Thunder segment will focus on an individual driver, from his everyday life to the tracks and series he competes at. There is no script or artificial drama and all episodes will be released on www.fuelthethunder.com and various video sharing and broadband connected platforms, among them YouTube and Vimeo.
