Bonus added to Late Model winner’s share at Super Nationals

| April 24, 2012

BOONE, Iowa (April 24) – Another IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals champion gets a bigger check this September.

The winner of the Deery Brothers Summer Series feature for IMCA Late Models gets a $30 bonus for each of as many as 50 starts made at regular sanctioned weekly events this season. The Monday, Sept. 3 main event already pays $2,000 to win, so the bonus bumps first place money to as much as $3,500.

Bonuses introduced last season for five divisions will be paid again at the 30th annual Super Nationals.

For each of as many as 50 sanctioned outings, the Modified champion earns an additional $100, the Stock Car champion $50, both the Northern SportMod and the Hobby Stock champion $25 and the Sport Compact champion $5.

“This incentive, which rewards our most loyal and dedicated drivers at our biggest and most prestigious event, was met with overwhelming praise in 2011,” noted IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root. “It’s only appropriate that we incorporate the bonus to the Late Model division as well.”

All six Super Nationals champions will receive payouts (also $2,000 for Modifieds, $1,000 for Stock Cars and Northern SportMods, $600 for Hobby Stocks and $250 for Sport Compacts) before leaving Boone Speedway.

Champions’ bonuses will be figured and those checks presented during the IMCA national banquet in November.

Bonuses push potential championship payouts to $7,000 for the Modifieds, $3,500 for Stock Cars, $2,250 for Northern SportMods, $1,850 for Hobby Stocks and $450 for Sport Compacts.

Total amounts paid to last year’s champions were $5,700 to Richie Gustin in the Modifieds; $2,125 to Scott Davis in the Northern SportMods, $2,000 to Sean Johnson in the Stock Cars, $1,600 to Cody Nielsen in the Hobby Stocks and $480 to Nathan Chandler in the Sport Compacts.

Super Nationals runs from Sept. 3-8.
