KAEDING POCKETS $10,000

| August 7, 2016

Brandon, SD (August 6, 2016) – Tim Kaeding’s second Dollar Loan Center 410 Outlaw Sprint Car win at Badlands Motor Speedway this season came at an opportune time – Brandon Pizza Ranch Double Down Weekend. To cut to the chase, that means Kaeding was greeted with a $10,000 check in victory lane.

The San Jose, California native also earned double points in the 2nd Chance Championship that pays $30,000 to win. He currently trails North Dakota’s Mark Dobmeier by 78 points in that chase.

Kaeding had to battle Justin Henderson to earn the double payout. Henderson, who could have started on the front row at the 360 Knoxville Nationals, instead chose to race at BMS.

Henderson drew the pole position after finishing sixth in passing points. He led the first eight laps before Kaeding took the lead in lapped traffic. Kaeding held the lead for just two laps as Henderson regained the position. However, Henderson slowed on lap 13, relinquishing the lead to Kaeding for the final time.

Kaeding took to the cushion to cruise past slower cars after the next restart and never received a serious challenge from second place finisher Lynton Jeffrey. Jeffrey also enjoyed a Brandon Pizza Ranch Double Down check worth $5,000.

Hanford, California, driver D.J. Netto took third in his first visit to BMS. He stopped in Victory Lane to congratulate his fellow California driver, Kaeding.

“I think it’s some of the best damn racing in the United States right now,” Kaeding said in Victory Lane, referring to the competition at BMS.

Tommy Barber earned hard charger honors for coming from 25th to 13th.

amdahl 8=6Elliot Amdahl won the kind of race you dream of winning as a kid. The now two-time winner in the Brandon Taco John’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car division took the lead from Blain Peterson on the third lap.

Robby Wolfgang gave Amdahl a sinking feeling when he became the third leader of the race on lap 13. Just three laps later, Wolfgang’s engine blew and Amdahl found himself back in front.

Before Wolfgang’s departure, Jason Martin was making fans take notice. Martin, who started 12th, was using the cushion to make his way to third after passing Casey Abbas.

Wolfgang’s mechanical problems put Martin in second for a restart with four laps to go, and the race was on.

With Amdahl leading at the white flag, Martin flew past Amdahl on the bottom of turn one. Amdahl, returned a slide job in turn two. And, with both drivers coming out of turn four for a $2,000 check, Amdahl was able to stay in front of Martin while Martin scraped the outside wall.

“Those restarts killed me and I was waiting for the race to be done,” Amdahl said after the crazy finish. “I knew I couldn’t keep up with Robby,” admitting that Wolfgang had the fastest car on the track before losing his motor.
