“VAN METER, INC NIGHT” COMING UP THIS FRIDAY AT HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY $1.00 Minimum Donation Benefits Juvenile Diabetes Center at Mercy Medical Center
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (June 18, 2014) – One of the more popular and important events each season at historic Hawkeye Downs Speedway is Van Meter Inc. Night. For several years employee-owned Van Meter Inc. has given the race fans the opportunity to attend races for a minimum $1.00 donation with proceeds benefiting a different entity each year. Of course fans are encouraged to donate more!

The very popular Legends Celebrity Race is back as well thanks to Bulltown Legends of Iowa and Allen Diercks. This years’ race features VanMeter Inc. Director of Automation Rod Reinertson; Mercy Medical Center President/CEO Tim Charles; KCRG-TV 9 Sports Director Scott Saville’ and Tyler Ryder of the KGYM “Afternoon Players Club” radio program.
Van Meter, Inc. welcomes fans and racers to week eight of the HyVee Racing Series with action slated for all six divisions of racing, including the Miller Time Modifieds.
Fans will want to get to Hawkeye Downs early for “Happy Hour at the ‘Downs” featuring 2-for-1 Tallboys until 7pm! And starting this week, $2 Hot Dogs and Brats all night long!
Hawkeye Downs and Hy-Vee have again teamed up to offer a new and improved concessions menu this season along with the return of Pepsi Products for 2014.
The Front Gate and Concessions open at 6pm with Hot Laps slated for 6:30 pm. Pre-Race Ceremonies will begin at 7:23pm with the first race at 7:30pm.
